The Minnesota Vikings are currently working on building a new stadium for their team. From this video you can tell that there are a lot of mixed feelings on if this is really a great idea. One half of the tax payers think it is a stupid idea for them to have to pay for it out of their own pocket, while the other half most of the Viking’s fans, believe it is a good idea. It would be the third top highest funding project in the state of Minnesota.

There will be one day of taxing cigarettes on shelfs and warehouses and another tax on out of state profits in the state of Minnesota. Many of the tax payers completely hate the idea of this. But in all reality the tax payers taking the biggest hit are smokers, which to be honest don’t buy cigarettes that day then.

With a new stadium it can bring in more profit. Many people spend a lot of time and money on sport tourism. Traveling across the country or even world spectating games or even just touring some of the biggest stadium or arenas. I know for a fact that if I was completely loaded with money I would want to travel across country to watch games and visit the biggest stadiums. This plan overall can be very beneficial and boosts local business revenue overall.

Another video is posted bringing more information about the actual financial part of the funding.

Here is video describing what exactly SportStream is and all the cool features. I mean who would’t want a hot babe delivering cheeseburgers and beer to you while watching the game?? It’s complete perfection. Just kidding none of those awesome features are added sadly.

When watching professional games on television either NFL, NBA or even NHL it is very important now to keep updated with what is going on in the social media world. Well Bob Morgan now CEO of SportStream came up with a brilliant idea for all you sport fanatics. He developed a website based off of most major social media sites, Twitter and Facebook, that brings all important sporting news together in one place. This means you can simply go to one spot and find all the important information regarding the current sport issues or evens. No more searching or using a hashtag to try and figure out what play you just missed.

Distribution. This is one of the key factors in SportStream’s growth potential. While Morgan pointed out the strong user engagement numbers and advertising potential with their own applications, SportStream’s greatest growth opportunity comes from increasing adoption from more teams, organizations, and networks to utilize and customize SportStream’s robust platform.

This is Bob Morgan’s main goal to try and spread the word about this great application or download that is available. It makes it so much easier on sport fans to go to one place and be able to keep up to date will the latest information and also able to chat, comment, or tweet with other friends. This is a fantastic idea. It is such a pain to have to take the time to switch from Facebook to Twitter constantly while trying to watch a game to try and figure out if a player’s injury is severe, what other teams won and other important information on the games. It isn’t very popular right now but I have a feeling once its out it will become one of the most popular sport social media sites.

A Hit or Miss????

Are the plans for Sochi 2014 achievable? Sochi’s plan for hosting the Winter Olympics has six different plans in mind. They start with healthy living, barrier-free world, modern technologies, in harmony with nature, economic prosperity, and finally culture and national values.

For starters I believe the healthy living plan is a great idea. I really agree that with the hosting of the Winter Olympics it should bring motivation to locals, children and participants in sports and physical activity. In my opinion if I knew Durango was going to host the Winter Olympics, you better believe I would want to be come more involved with participating in these sports or just to simply improve my physical fitness level. I also totally agree that medical services will rise in quality and bring forth more attention.

On the barrier-free world I can also see this plan working out. I have worked with people and children that have disabilities. It is remarkable how their attitude changes so drastically when they realize that they can also participate in the same activities that all the others can. I believe we  can all work together to help these unfortunate people understand that their importance in life, especially sport, is just as important as anyone else.

With the face paced growth of technology I completely believe that their aspect of modern technologies will work . In the technology world almost anything is possible. These new advancements of the UIS portal is a fantastic idea it can help participants and spectators, internationally, be able to easily make their stay a less of a hassle.

In harmony with nature is one of the most important steps I believe in the plan. It should be mandatory at all big sporting events like these to make rules and regulations on how much of an impact any set up can take on the environment. Nothing would make a person more upset than if a huge event like this was supposed to help their local economy but instead it completely destroyed their scenery and surrounding environment.

The last step of the plan I agree with is the economic prosperity. The object of this step is to help the local economy as much as possible. This means new jobs, volunteer movement and the upbringing of more business to local companies. If it works according to plan the place of Sochi should see a huge economic gain.

The last step of the plan I am questionable about. When bringing up cultural and national believes it is a touchy subject. Some countries care so strongly about their culture that any  new interruptions to that can cause some tension. If someone has a set belief on something it is very difficult to change their mind.

In this YouTube video it shows just a glimpse of what creations they are going to and have added to the location to make it easier for spectators and participants. It shows the technology part of the plan does not seem to be an issue.

Over all I believe Sochi’s plan for the Winter Olympics in 2014 is a great idea. If the plan works it could be a huge economic and intellectual gain for the area.

Get Rich or Die Trying….

This article is really disturbing to me, as I know she is not the only single parent that has suffered this type of discrimination. The decision that the director made was very damaging to Sondra a single mother, that probably does a lot for her children but she cannot afford to help her kids stay active due to the costs of participation. This type of issue is in my opinion just what is most efficient. I am sure there are ways the director could work with the system to try and get families that can’t financially pay for their kids to participate in sport. I worked for the City of Durango and I know of many times that the director of youth sport worked ways to fit every child into the sport. I am sure the director is right and there was indeed budget cuts but it seems that there is some way that they could come up with maybe a payment system or higher discount for her situation. But we also don’t know how many other families have approached the director in need of assistance and if he finds a way to discount or help Sondra out and other families find out he may feel obligated to do it for any families that say they need help. I believe the director is in the wrong. We complain that American have such a high obesity rate in children and they lack physical activity but this is one of the exact reasons why some children are obese. They just simply can’t afford to participate in sport.

This video discusses how expensive it cost for youth to participate in sporting activities.
