I’m not entirely sure what theme I want to dive into at the moment. If I had to choose though it would be between “roles of friends” or simply “self authoring”.
Bill asked us what critical thinking is. Kellen started us off rolling with to the topic of critical thinking by suggesting This is Us by David Foster Wallace, a book which focuses on critical thinking. But because Kellen could not cite Wallace’s definition of critical thinking, we broke it down, and defined in in our own terms. Jeremiah pushed Brandon’s idea of scholarly thought to putting different perspectives on your thinking process. Kelsey asked if it was an internal process, that later moves to an external process. Emily suggested it was simply making an understanding of the issue or topic at hand. I believe that all three of these ideas are what embodies critical thinking. We start by asking questions, collaborate with peers and scholars, and come together with a deeper understanding of the issue (which is what the class did with trying to understand what critical thinking is).
