First off, “Authoring Your Life” is extremely repetitive. For my theme, I am considering writing about manipulation. The writer constantly manipulates her writers and their quotes to shape them to her needs. That can be found in all areas of life. Seems like a good, relative topic.
I believe in the simplest form, after cutting out all the “psychology nonsense” and cover up terminology, critical thinking is thinking critically. Kelsey asked whether critical thinking must start internally or if it can start externally. I would say it depends on the situation, but generally does start internally. Agreeing with Brandon, I would say critical thinking could be considered scholarly but that just seems like a pinned on name to make “us” feel smarter. Thinking critically is thinking to solve a problem, defined at the simplest level. Multiple steps are worked through in the process of critical thinking. No matter what the problem is at hand, a process is gone through. It is something everybody, even non-schooled humans, do everyday. One thinks critically what to wear, what to eat, where to live, and so on. Critically think about that.
